What’s so hard about making your dreams come true if you consider the recipe and mechanisms to reach them?  First, it starts with imagining them for yourselves in a way that they seem real and thus within your reach. Next, you believe and have faith that you, and only you, have the capacity and capability to accomplish them no matter the obstacles.  And finally and most importantly, you have to be absolutely 150% committed to putting in a determined effort to reach your destination without accepting that alternatives or options exist short of your dreams.

I’ve found that the only times I’ve ever abandoned any lofty goals are when I’ve surrendered that commitment in exchange for convenience and practicality, using paltry excuses, flawed justifications, and misdirected blame to comfort the loss of something I really wanted and could have had.  You guys are at a stage where your dreams are closer than you realize and if you stay committed to and focused on your quests, what you dream about will turn out to being another among your growing prized possessions.  I’ll provide the hope, support, and encouragement as you get there, while you guys do the heavy lifting and hard work necessary so in the end, we’ll all celebrate together in the kingdoms you’ve created!

“In life, the things that go wrong are often the very things that lead to other things going right.” – Arianna Huffington

Please for goodness sake, don’t try to give light to the past because it is no longer a living entity that has the power to exhurt the amount of control that so many frequently allow it to exercise.  We can’t resurrect or return to wasted opportunities since they come with no guarantees.  We can only attend their funeral but can’t exhaust ourselves at their tombstones because we can’t raise what’s gone and the remainder of our days continually move ahead.

We have to move forward while learning from the decisions we’ve made and especially those we failed to make on our path to the present.  It starts with the natural first step in the proper direction sprinkled with hope and self-assurance for what we can visualize.

The earth spins on an axis but people are not meant to.  Moving continually to the right or left leads us to drifting in circles and back to where we started from with no progress.  We need to walk on or near our center and if unsure, trust our instincts.  Don’t feel betrayed because you can’t see your destination because there will be multiple signs of simple basic elegance that will confirm that we are on the right path.

A simple starting point in recognizing opportunities that we are better served to take advantage of:  Give a smile or hug to those who need them.  Say “I love you” or give a kiss to those who deserve them.  Laugh or shed a tear without embarrassment if you are genuinely moved.  Pay attention to what others may need from you, if only for a moment, when the situation requires you to do so because you can provide light to guide someone from their own darkness.

Put this into practice and I believe that less will pass unnoticed and more importantly, you will react accordingly and leave your imprint on the past and present, and then close in on your chosen destination!

And with that said by your father, also keep this in mind moving forward from today:  “Never regret. If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience.” – Victoria Holt

…Just remember that when you feel happy for whatever reason, think about how different it feels compared with other emotions and that it’s probably your best opportunity to make a difference to help others (whether family, friends, or strangers) when surrounded by small opportunities to do so.  Since we all have known similar emotions of feeling depressed or despair, then maybe the smallest kind gesture may have an impact.  We all know the obvious signs or clues, and it’s not important to know the why, what, solution, or response in return.  It’s only important that we as human beings caught in the same environment react to such an opportunity and do more than just share space in it; doing otherwise, in my opinion, seemingly betrays whatever higher power we ascribe too.  Just thinking out loud, again.

“One word or a pleasing smile is often enough to raise up a saddened and wounded soul.”

I don’t really think that God has created us with the unrealistic expectation that we would create a cure for cancer or solve world hunger. It would be unbelievable if we could but it is no less remarkable than recognizing that someone may benefit from a simple kind gesture. It is difficult to justify ignoring such an opportunity when that person is close to you.

It does not matter what kind of response in return you receive because that person may be so immersed in their inner turmoil to respond as we would expect. They just need to realize that they are not alone, forgotten, or ignored, because in time they will realize it.

It would be a betrayal of the gifts and blessings of the good fortune given by our Creator…

Sometimes we owe the most to people we know little or almost nothing about.

Case in point: I’ve seen countless times where strangers have met Deb and within minutes, are sharing their most intimate and hidden frailties, insecurities, and problems with her. It must be because they recognize that she is not only willing to genuinely listen to the content, but that she recognizes their need to willingly share that content. Although this will often test every level of patience, afterwards I wonder how much of an impact and improvement she had on that person’s life, even for a short amount of time. That’s a reason why I love and am amazed by her, often more frequently than I let her know.

My friend Dee Dee has that same gift. It’s funny that outside of her family and our baseball lives, I know so little about her and her husband…
